This talk highlights the area’s multicultural beginnings. It explores the extent of the Chinese market gardens from the late 1880s to post World War 11, who the gardeners were, and the impacts of the White Australia Policy.

The talk is presented by Dr Janis Hanley. Janis researches what heritage creates: the ways the past is remembered and represented, the voices heard, and those left out.
