The talk presents a fascinating and little documented story of ordinary life of the residents of early Brisbane based on the findings from the Cross River Rail archaeological investigation. The presenter, Dr Kevin Rains, draws on the findings from the Cross River Rail archaeological investigations and the salvage of some important archaeological sites dating from the 1860s to the early 20th century, including Brisbane’s first Chinatown, and the South Brisbane Railway Depot.

Dr Kevin Rains is a Senior Heritage Consultant for Niche Environment and Heritage Pty Ltd. He holds a PhD in archaeology from the University of Qld.

Annerley-Stephens History Group (ASHG) is proud to bring you Revealing Early Brisbane: The Cross River Rail Archaeological Program as our last major event of 2024.
