Join Dr Michael Macklin on Monday 2 June at 7.00 pm for his presentation: My Place – the story of not only a house in Yeronga but a place from pre-colonial times to the present day.
In his presentation Michael traces the history of the area from the perspective of his home in Yeronga. The talk will add another dimension to his very interesting and comprehensive history of the area.
About the speaker: Dr. Michael Macklin established the Australian Democrats in Queensland, was elected to the Senate in 1980 and retired from politics in 1990. He then oversaw the highly successful Capital Campaign for the restoration of old Customs House. From 2002 to 2007, Michael was Professor and Executive Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at UNE. He is now happily retired but busy as a keen historian, grandfather and, when possible, enthusiastic traveller.
The talk will be held at the Yeronga Community Centre at 7.00 pm following the business meeting at 6.00 pm.
The talk is free but donations are welcomed.
