Boomerang Theatre, Ipswich Road, Annerley, circa 1927
The Boomerang Theatre opened on December 10, 1924. A sound system was installed in 1928 to enable the screening of “talkies”. In 1933 the building was redesigned in an Art Deco style by architect Archibald Tathan Longland. The refurbishment also involved raising the roof to permit the installation of a dress circle. A further refurbishment was undertaken in 1953. The Boomerang Theatre closed in January of 1995 and was demolished in September 1995.
